Decided to give one of Emma’s takes the wet-plate treatment, in homage to Google’s release of the Nik Collection. Pretty decent effect!

Throwing it back to 2010, with a fun ol’ concept-shoot of the ever-talented Kira Distler and her BFF, Turtie. These two have the kind of friendship where you can just see the love in their eyes. Okay you called it, it was really just a stuffed turtle. Fun shoot, anyway!
Established In 1907 as the Oregon State Institution for the Feeble-Minded, this spooky complex later was renamed to the Fairview Training Center in the 1960’s. It was eventually shut down in 2000.
Flashback to 2010; This was from a really simple but wonderful angora-fur shoot with Kate Troedsson.
Let’s take it back to 2008. My (only) shoot with the mega-talented Princess Salwa Aga Khan, but back in the day. With Gasoline Glamour glasses, even. Grrr!

Hey it’s throwback WEEK over here while I continue to sift through some great old images. This is an older shot of model Cara Mia, shot near the Mississippi neighborhood (Portland, OR) back in 2010. She’s got a bit more ink these days and is still doing tons of great modeling, I understand. Once I get a grip on this workflow of mine, I look forward to doing more casual, fun work like this shoot.
These are from an older shoot, but they deserve re-visiting. Malene Jensen is a fabulous model.
The more I shoot portraits, the more I realize that a good smile really starts with the eyes. Not just the thought behind the eyes, but the actual muscles around the eyes are more flexed when you actually smile. This is why saying “cheese” doesn’t cut it.
