These long, straight stretches of road are pretty rare in Oregon’s higher elevations. Highways like this give great long-distance perspective in the otherwise steep hills and dense forests.

These boards have been standing there for over one hundred years now, and the time has only improved their aesthetic.
Seeing as how they weren’t put there just to get pretty, this building was demolished in 2012.

Carhartt makes some pretty solid pants. But when you hike in the early am, they quickly get damp from all the dew. So I dried ’em off by the fire.
This is not the most efficient method, unless fun is your ultimate goal. Then this works really well.
