Stacked

Something about the texture of sun-bleached high-desert wood…

These boards have been standing there for over one hundred years now, and the time has only improved their aesthetic.

Seeing as how they weren’t put there just to get pretty, this building was demolished in 2012.

The Whale

I love Eastern Oregon. This wood is completely weathered out from the intense dryness and brutal, constant sun. I noticed the face in this board, looking somewhat like a whale. Portrait, taken.

Sun Grain

Something about thewear and tear of sun, wind, and time on wood…

I think these boards were cut from Pine, but I really don’t know Oak from Madrone.

Out here in the Eastern Oregon high desert, the wind-born sand and dust really tears up the softer parts of the cut boards. I dig the contrast.

Weathered Wood

The desert sun and wind can wreak havoc on wood, but at the same time- there’s a beautiful quality to this natural erosion. The stark contrast fits the mood and the location uniquely.
