Burnside Bridge Steps
Talking a walk across the Burnside bridge the other day, I noticed the great color and texture of the stairs that lead down to the water. Hip shot!

Saron Nehf is an amazingly talented individual.
Take a look through this gallery to see what I’m talking about. She went through about five different looks during this test shoot like a BOSS. From country-western pin-up to substitute schoolteacher, she’s got character.

“The thrill of the fight is what motivates me… But if you go into a fight feeling moronic with happiness and unaffected by the outcome, you turn into these lazy and bored Brazilian fighters who don’t know Capoeira from Dance Dance Revolution. Wait, I apologize, those are the same thing. Please don’t print that.”
Ah, Chael…
While taking a look atop Pelican Butte- which is near Klamath Falls, OR- I took a few photos of the Klingerman family. It was a short expedition, but the vista was pretty compelling nonetheless! Of course, there was no shortage of hamming it up for the camera from young Asher… That little guy was made for the camera, and he’ll jump at any opportunity to prove it! Good times. Oregon is beautiful.
Toma Amendolara and Mishalla Cannon, caught in the right place at the wrong time. Like nostalgia-seeking spirits from another era, they’re drawn time and again to this very bridge, exactly at five am, on July third, year after year.
That was where he’d finally proposed to her. At five am. They’d stayed out all night, dancing and promising their futures together, once he returned in a few months.
At zero six hundred, Toma was shipping out to the Pacific Ocean.
They never actually saw each other again, but they don’t forget their promises, either. You can still see them out on the bridge, every year around five in the morning, every July third. Sometimes she tries to stop him from going off, but usually they just linger and love each other.
For this early-Spring senior portrait session, The Revis family came down to the studio ready to make some truly unique portraits of their daughter, Jessena. They even rented a vintage Vespa for her to pose with.
Recently took some fun shots of Scott Thomason’s custom bobber he’s dubbed The Natural.
Good, clean custom design on this motorcycle. We had barely enough daylight to get any kind of environmental exposure, but I ended up really liking the high-contrast feel of these shots- something about the hard lighting, dark shadows, and the brushed metal just represents the bike’s character that much more.

Solomon Trimble came to this shoot carrying real tradition. He’s been a Grass Dancer since he was three years old, and sang with The Young Spirit Singers growing up, long before Twilight cast him as Sam Uley.
The ceremonial dress carries specific meaning too: the leatherwork, the beading, the feathers, all tied to Mescalero Apache tradition.
This wasn’t planned. He was just downtown in Portland in full ceremonial dress, and I got to photograph it: tradition walking through the middle of the city.
